Serving Slovakia

Serving Slovakia is a short term mission experience that provides an opportunity to see God at work while sharing the love of Christ and serving the people of Slovakia.

Our Partner

Since 1998, the Center for Christian Education, located in Martin, Slovakia, has been a place where people of all ages can learn and experience the love of Christ in this post-communist part of the world. New Heights has had the privilege of partnering with them in a variety of ways, including sending our first short-term mission team in 2007.

Our Plan

Partnering with our friends at the Center for Christian Education, we’ll be spending two weeks in Martin, Slovakia. During our time there, we’ll have 2 different opportunities to serve:
English as a Foreign Language: Teach conversational English to Slovak citizens and Ukrainian refugees. No prior EFL/ESL experience is required.
Maintenance: From yard work to minor repairs, basic maintenance to remodels, there’s a variety of opportunities to help the CCE staff get ready for a new school year.

Our Purpose

Our prayer is that we’ll show Christ’s love in all that we say and do. Our hope is that God will use our simple acts of love and service to open the hearts of those with whom we interact to the Good News of Jesus Christ. In addition, we hope to be an encouragement to our friends at the Center for Christian Education and the leaders of the local church, who faithfully serve and love the people of Slovakia, and the new arrivals from Ukraine, in Christ’s name.

Thoughts from Past Team Members

“Being a part of the Serving Slovakia team brought a new light into my life. One of patience, caring, sharing, and love. I experienced opening up my heart to strangers and felt the love of God come rushing in.”

“My life has been forever changed because I followed God’s leading and went to Slovakia.”

“To see God’s powerful hand at work across the world, reclaiming a faith, a people, and a country that had been religiously oppressed for so many years, has blessed not only me, but my entire family.”
“God has enriched my life and soul through the incredible people I have met being connected to the Center for Christian Education and the Serving Slovakia ministry. Their warmth, friendships and genuine kindness have made me a better follower of Jesus.”

“The opportunity to be a part of the ministry in Martin, and then go back home and share with people the miraculous things God has done, and is doing, at the CCE, not only encourages them, but reminds me, again – that God is everywhere, He has a plan, and He’s in control.”

“I hadn’t anticipated God working on my heart as He did – calling me to a purer, more holy life, laying aside the sin that so easily entangles and pressing on to the high calling of Jesus.”
